Gorée Island, Dakar, Senegal
On my last day in Senegal I visited Gorée Island. Gorée Island is about 4 kilometers from mainland Senegal and is reached by boat. It looks like a sunny, friendly island now. But it has a gloomy past, having served as an important station in trans-atlantic slave trade.
